What types of electronic monitoring go on in a business? Is it ethically right for that business to monitor it's employees?

Yes it is. They monitor your email, what websites you visit, they have cameras to ensure you do not steal. If these were not problems for employers in the past there would not be a need for this monitoring, but the need necessitated it.

If you are using a business's assets then they are not only withing their rights to monitor you, but it is also their duty.

How would it look for a Fortune 500 Company to have some white supremacist hosting their website off the company server or a Corporate VP spreading malicious emails about another co-worker's sexual orientation?

Why it could severely damage the companies value and reputation. As a stockholder I don't care about your rights as an employee(which are legally limited by the companies Policies) as much as I do about company performance.

if they own the electronic equipment then they have the right to monitor it, even the supreme court said so

All sorts of monitoring....and its legal....unless its pornagraphic(in bathroom stalls or locker room changing area)
