My husband is having these now. I bought Icy Heat adhesive patches for him. I also rub out the sore spot, massage his back for him, which helps a little.

Take some ibuprofen, use alternating hot and cold packs on it. When it loosens up, do back stretches, carefully.

Not knowing the origin of the pain you are enduring it is hard to say. If it is in the lower area- possible disc inflamation- streching , from laying on back, bend knees- feet on floor take the opposite leg of the side that hurts and bend your foot over your other knee. and press your spine to the floor- works very well. Also a towel rolled up beneath the small of your back helps tremendously. This has helped my spasms many times- Chiropractor recommended to me to try- If it continues I would see a chiropractor rather than conventional Drs. who prescribe drugs for this rather than therapy.
MUCH LUCK!

well i go to school for massage therapy and i am almost done. massage can definitely help with any back spasms you may be having by relaxing the muscles and allowing more blood flow to the affected area. if they occur too often you might want to get a referral from a doctor before hand

Sometimes there's too much calcium in the body. It causes muscle tightening. I tried a product called Natural Calm and it was great. It's magnesium which is needed with calcium in the correct ratio.

Slow streches, a good hot soak in the tub, ibuprofen, or a muscle relaxer, and if all else fails, call your Dr. to see if he can offer more advice.

I suggest eatting more iron and potassium through vegetables or tablets if diet allows, as they effect and can ease muscle cramping.
