ummmm.... because they are white and female?

A couple of reasons.

One, most journalists are White, as are almost all top editors and producers. So they are more likely to identify with a wealthy White woman.

Two, the media is oriented towards the wealthiest members of the audience - that's who the advertisers want watching the news shows and reading the papers, since they have the most money and can buy the most expensive goods. So the editors and producers cater to that audience.

And, thanks to 400 years of institutional racism, wealthy Americans are disproportionately White.

So, White reporters and editors, catering to the disproportionately White affluent segment of the audience, report on stories which affect the White audience.

Bottom line, it's a form of institutional racism.

That's why they ignore missing Black women, but give lots and lots of coverage to missing White women.

I don't know what news your watching, or unless you have selective memory. That 4-day-old baby wasn't a white female from middle america. It's in the news now.

white people aren't better than non-white people, so shut up with your melodramatic analysis of news broadcasting. stop with the pity party! we are all equal. and your analyzing of everything to find SOMETHING racist doesn't help.
