I want to send a birthday greeting card to Kim Johnsson, player for the Minnesota Wild because we happen to have the same birthday (March 16.) What I want to know is what do I actually say to him?

When I was a kid, I sent Curtis Joseph a hand-made birthday card shaped like a hockey stick. He sent me back an autographed picture.
Just write a letter like you would to anybody:
Dear Kim Johnsson,
I am a huge fan...etc...happy birthday...etc...
DON'T forget to write your address on your letter so he can get back to you.

Just tell him you're a fan, and you thought it was cool you have the same birthday so you're sending him a card. Don't say anything too superfan, that would embarass him or you if you were talking to him in person.

How about "Happy Birthday, and Good Luck in the upcoming Playoffs?" Short, not gushy, to the point, and a sentiment he'll surely appreciate.
