Seriously, it had to have been weighing on their minds for so long. I think they'll be unstoppable now that they can FINALLY take a big sigh of relief. ( I know all of the fans can)

Yes but I think it will be up because they are playing the buffalo sabres. And to the people that are knocking the goaltending, it has been up as of late. Yes I know fleury gave up one in a shootout. Of course let's not forget it was brodeur who was the other goalie. Of course I am suprised not one of the three shooters tried to deke out brodeur. But what is great about this team is that everyone contributes. It is not just crosby or malkin. Colby got another game winner against the rangers with I might add no crosby or malkin in the overtime because of skate issues. Staal and Talbot have 2 of the best players on the penalty kill. Gonchar, Roberts and Recchi provide great leadership. Yes this team could go far. As to whther they will go to the stanley cup finals who's to say. After all edmonton who no one thought would be good at the end was an 8th seed and made it to the finals, why not the pens.

I know that I will now feel more confident about putting a down payment on season tickets for 07-08. But I would agree with waiting until the contract is signed before giving three cheers for the Pens and PA/Pittsburgh government.

I'd have to agree that it's hard for the energy level to go any higher but I'm sure that as far as confidence is concerned it should help. I think one of the things to consider is at the end of the winning streak is when the arena talks to the negative starting to get really bad. Also keep in mind to the, so called consistency detractors, that the Pens have continued to pick up points and have also played bad teams for awhile. Now the detractors will say, "HA! They haven't beaten anyone good," and while that's true they have also won the games they are supposed to win. Also playing bad teams for such a stretch does not help you get ready for the good teams. I think everyone sees now what playing the good teams for a few games in a row does to their game. They have elevated it. They lost in a shootout to the best goaltender in the world. They exploited a Senators team that likes to give up leads. And they put back a Rangers team that had taken an early 2-0 lead. Thibault has been playing great but needs goal support. And Fleury has been playing consistent. The problems he has had plagues every goaltender save Marty. Defense is an issue but they are getting better. And yes they may not have a great chance to win the cup but they are going to show up every night. I think they have shown that most of the year. Every team in the league should know by now, and especially the Eastern Conference, that if you go up by a couple goals versus the Pens you better not sit on your laurels because the Pens young cast will turn those laurels into poisonous thorns.

To be honest, I don't know if the arena thing was a distraction or a rallying point. I think they played over their heads for a while trying to give the fans here something great in case they did move. With a deal done, they will be more relaxed, but their overall play won't improve that much. I do however think they can make a good run in the playoffs.

The energy level is not what I'm concerned about. We need better defense and consistant goaltending (good, not bad like our little winning streak in February) before the words Stanley Cup contenders should be attached to the Pens

I do not believe that the energy of the team is going to change at all. They are a team lead by youngsters and they will play with the same amount of energy they have all season. The politics off the ice has not concerned them before and will not have any effect now.

How can it shoot up....if one thing has been apparant to even the most casual fan this season, it's that these kids have been playing with a tremendous amount of energy almost every night...they've taken very, very few games off. If they start giving off even more energy now, they'll be able to light the whole Golden Triangle on game nights.

I don't think i could get any higher. going what 16 games with out losing in regular time come on that's one of the best this year. they might of slacked off a little lately but that's what happens when u goes balls to the wall all year. Crosby is pushing MVP and Malkin and Stall are front runners for rookie of the year they might not do it all this year but they will be a team to watch for next year

Pens have just as much of a chance at the cup as any team in the playoffs. Yes this may boost their energy.

I have to agree, Any time the uncerntanty of your future is resolved, it has to allow you to focus more on the day to day stuff you have to do. All we can do is sit back, watch, and wish them well. Go Pens!!!!!
