Any meat that is pre-cooked and then stored at refrigerator temperature before you buy it. The problem is if it's not stored properly, there could be a bacteria called listeria growing on it. Listeria isn't so bad if you're healthy, but it's really dangerous to the fetus. The worry with deli meat is when they cut the meat sometimes they leave the meat out for a while between customers.
I tried microwaving the deli meat while I was pregnant (this will kill the bacteria), but I didn't like how it turned out so I stuck with peanut butter and jelly and/or leftovers.

There is a small chance of the listeriosis bacteria being present in some deli meats, and that is transferable to the fetus. From what I understand, if you get your ham or turkey (or whatever) from a reputable deli, grocery store etc., where everything is well refrigerated, is should be fine. My first pregnancy I was so paranoid about this kind of thing I wouldn't eat anything...I practically lived on Cheerios. My second pregnancy I ate deli meats and everything was fine.
Raw or unpasteurized dairy products should be avoided during pregnancy, also because of listeriosis (most dairy products in the U.S. are pasteurized).
Don't go too crazy thinking about this kind of thing, just use common sense and everything should be fine:)

I worked in a deli-i would say if you want deli meat, and you are prego, do what i did. look at the package it comes in, if its wrapped up by the workers ask for a new package with a good date. do not buy any that is allready pre-cut in the display or on sale!!! same with cheese. the on sale items, unless authorized by a company, are usually soon to go out of date or they are out of date. And just cuz its *vaccume sealed* doesnt mean that its not bad by the date, the company thinks about that when they put the date on the casing! The companies they get the products from are usually trust worthy, but the actual people who work there-unless you really trust them, are not. Be sure you ask them to clean off the slicer to before they cut your meat or cheese. and change gloves. Some places are really good about doing that, but i have yet to find one where i live. its a hassle for them, but they get paid, and you will have less of a chance of having to pay doctor bills for sickness from contamination of deli meats later.

This is what it says on www.americanpregnancy.org:
Deli Meat: Deli meats have been known to be contaminated with Listeria, which can cause miscarriage. Listeria has the ability to cross the placenta and may infect the baby leading to infection or blood poisoning, which may be life-threatening. If you are pregnant and you are considering eating deli meats, make certain that you reheat the meat until it is steaming.

Yes...well, not the meat, but the possible contamination. Deli meats, soft unpasteurized cheeses, pate, even turkey hot dogs can be contaminated with a bacteria called listeria. While listeria is not really harmful to most people, its is deadly to the unborn baby. Listeria can cause fetal death - the bacteria is passed to the baby, and the baby can't fight it. Whether a woman is 6 weeks or 36 weeks, it can and does kill the baby in utero, and usually with NO symptoms to the mother.
If you must eat deli meats, make sure to heat them to steaming first, to kill the bacteria. Its best to just avoid it entirely during your pregnancy.

Yes it is bad as the meat contains bacteria such as salmonella which can seriously harm your baby to think of losing it. Never chance your baby's development on deli meat, fish or poultry.
