what main criteria should i be looking at when i am deciding on a college?(i.e.cost,location....)Also how important is it that i know what i want to major in beforehand?I'm not quite sure what i want to be yet...

It's pretty important to know what you want to be because you would want to spend time in a college that isn't best for the occupation you want to pursue.Try to find the college that has the best reputation for what you want to specialize in, then of course cost also plays a large factor as well as what location will be best for meeting your everyday needs! Good luck finding a college that is best for you!

It's not critical to know yet. Many people (myself included) don't know until they're almost done. The experience of college life is what is important at this point. Young people need to get out away from home and start to understand how relationships - political, sociological (group), and psychological factors come into play in all human endeavors. When you've lived on your own, made some mistakes (little and big), experienced lonliness, success, frustation and triumph then you may come upon your mission or purpose in life. Hopefully you'll make some lifelong friendships and start some lifelong traditions (i.e. - meeting every Bastille Day in Topeka or coming together from around the country back to your alma mater to see the Homecoming game). This is the most exciting time of your life. Take your time with your big decisions and throw caution to the wind with the littler ones along the way.
