Oh, this is such a familiar story. First, a stain is a stain is a stain. There is some hope, though. Log on www.haleyshints.com. They are the "household heros" who tell us how to get things clean. Once you have done everything you can to get the wine out, then you can think about dying the dress a new color.
If the stain doesn't come out, no matter what color you choose to dye the dress, the stain will always show up as a darker version of that color. Instead of dying, try Rit's Color Removal product. It might, only might take out most of the color of both stain and dress. Since I don't know how Lycra takes either removal or dye, I can't say if much change will happen.
If you are willing to turn your dress into an art project, remove color, dye back, or go to a craft store and pick up fabric paint and have fun!

What is the dress made of? If it is cotton, you can use RIT dye. First use the color remover to remove the color then you should be able to use a color you like to dye the dress. RIT can be found in grocery stores and maybe Walmart. Good luck

Rit used to make a fabric dye..I think they still do. I assume you are going to dye it darker red to hide the stain. You cant dye it say yellow..with dyes you have to go darker you cant dye it a lighter color.

No, don't even try it. I export garments to your country, so I know it. The coloring process in the factory I am with is poisonous. Machine operators in this factory all wear gloves and masks.

Don't dye it, it could ruin your dress, you could go to a cleaner and they might get it professionally removed, but don't do it.

Hmmm. I would just place it in a bucket of red wine and let it soak. Take it out, let it air dry and then wash it/dry it/dry clean it.
