im in the 8th grade and am trying out for my schools dance team. our jazz dance we have to do is mainly hip-hop so does anyone know any good ways to help me since im not very good with hip-hop. i was on the dance team last year so im good at learnig fast dances but i need help with the actual hip-hop type dance.(we learn the dance in 3 days ina clinic at school then tryout on fri.)
P.S~ please dont say "practice" i know i need to practice and im taking a after clinic every day after practice where we learn our dance so i do practice alot.

I would say smile alot! Not that fake azz cheerleader smile but one that is more like as smirk or a smile but not one that is really dramatic just a natural one.
If you mess up, just keep going and dont call attention to yourself by doing that 'oops look'
I think that the best dancers have the air of confidence and they always look like they are having so much FUN!

I am sure that you will do just fine...

******p.s. if you can video tape yourself and have your mom or someone you trust to critique it with you....when you see yourself FOR YOURSELF, you will have a better idea if you are accomplishing your objectives!

I always ask your self what i would love to do after I actually have an audition! If the team does have a particular form or maybe basically want particular kinds i'd bypass with what they want. (possibly examine on information superhighway website?) yet another issue to imagine about is what you've more beneficial useful ability in. Do you've acceptable pirouettes or are you more beneficial useful at popping and locking? Lyrical is a magnificent thanks to hook up with the judges/target market so as that can be a more beneficial useful idea. yet, Hip hop is so exciting and remarkable(besides as lyrical) and also you'll benefit connection including your visitors. eat healthy--milk, veggies, fruit, water, healthy yogurt, trail mix, grains, protein bars.

take your vitamins.

get a lot of sleep so you arent concentrating on your yawns.




okay so for the dancing.
i take ballet and since were on our toes, i walk on my toes around my house so i can focus on balancing with out taking up time to practice.
for hip hop, well all dance, you need to stretch and run. this opens and helps your musscels. youll see results if you really try hard.
the best thing to do is to do sit ups. you can even do them while watching tv, listening to your ipod, etc.
watch movies such as "step up". it is so inspiring and i was dancing out of the theatre wanting to go dance. also watch their foot work, legs, etc.
also, for any dance, take a ballet class. the reason is, everything originates from ballet and you will be able to do more.

how long do you have?
if you have long, you can incorporate breakdancing into it. That should give some bonus points..

and remember to HIT the beats. Don't go offbeat either.
