This may sound a little "motivational speaker' like, but it worked for me:
First, your desire to STOP your habit has to be greater than your desire to perform your habit.
For me, it was picking at my face. It was such a bad habit and it lasted for several years. I had moderate acne because I messed with my face so much. But, the satisfaction I got out of messing with my face was greater than my desire to have a clear face. Finally, I was so sick of being self conscious and having to worry about how my face looked that I quit.
Secondly, you have to find something else to do when you have the urge to do your bad habit. When I wanted to go look in the mirror and pick at my skin, I would grab a lump of silly puddy and watch some TV. This way, my hands were pre-occupied and tv got my mind off of messing with my face.
Thirdly, you have to appreciate what it's like to not do this bad habit. Once my face started looking better and I looked good without wearing any make-up, I didn't want to ruin my good complexion.
Finally, once you've been clean of your habit for a few weeks, you have to watch out and make sure you don't start it again. If you see yourself falling back into that bad behavior- do whatever you did to take your mind off of it in the first place.
Good Luck!

It's hard to give you advice if we don't know what this habit is.
I guess if you know that this habit is really bad for you, and that it may lead to something even worse, you need to work on stopping it or else get some help. The good thing is that you want to stop. Maybe write down your worst fear, what this habit could turn into. Visualize what this could lead you to, and how your life would change. Maybe this would be enough to get you to stop your habit.

i've got heard this before yet i've got additionally heard that it takes 21 days to style or harm a habit and that i've got placed this concept into consequence by making use of changing something I do for 21 days such as ingesting behavior, workout, biting my nails, smoking and many others. So in case you will possibly be able to provide up doing something for no less than 21 days you need to be waiting to stop the previous habit thoroughly, in case you cheat or pass back to the previous habit your 21 days initiate over you won't be able to speak your self.

People do a lot of things for different reasons. Sometimes it's because they are hurting inside and can't figure out what else to do. If this is harmful to yourself or someone that you love. You are loved by someone. Stop.... You are special to someone. There are hot lines that you can call and talk to people and they can help. Don't think that you are all along. There's somebody out there that will understand and probably been there the same thing. Hang in there!!!

Ask God to forgive you and help you with it, he knows everything you do....even before you do it. It's good you feel remorse about it.....everyone is addicted to something or have weaknesses....were human. You can be open and honest with God....even if it is something you enjoy doing....tell him that and ask for his help. Resist it as much as you can, and pray about it everyday, especially when your tempted......and eventually it will go away. I even suggest getting a calendar and marking off each 24 hr period that you avoid whatever it is. No matter what it is don't beat yourself up over it....but forgive yourself and carry on....because you can't look back and change the past, but the future is all yours with God's help. I will pray for your situation.
God Bless You,
Daniel

I can't give you advise if you don't say what the bad habit is. Nobody here knows who you are. Just say what it is and deal with the criticism if you want advise.
