for a crime their ancestors commited a long time ago. Also why do black people want reparations.? so are you saying money will fix the past? Who agrees that raparations are not appropriate and we must move on in the future and stop blaming white people just for being white? Also I wasn't a slave so why should i receive compensation? who agrees with me? maybe i think like this becasue i'm 15..

Not all blacks agree with reparations for the same reasons you have stated. My family wasn't even here during the times of slavery in this country so it definitely doesn't affect me. But even if it did, getting money wouldn't fix the past and there isn't anyone alive today who was directly affected by slavery. However, for blacks who do want reparations I guess you have to look at the fact that Native Americans, and some other groups have received reparations for the things that happened to them in this country so there's the question of isn't it a little unfair if blacks, who actually have ancestors who were slaves, don't receive anything? In the end, I doubt it will ever happen so don't worry too much about it.

You are absolutely entitled to your opinions. Some black people want reparation and some do not. Some blacks feel that their forefathers were used as slaves; no compensation received. Some people who owned slaves, became enormously wealthy off the backs of those slaves. Whereas, many of those slave owners built great wealth from their use of slaves, and subsequently passed down their wealth from one generation to another, most blacks had nothing to either inherit or pass down. There are people who have attempted to trace their family roots in the south and have identified some southern families who enslaved their forefathers. Imagine how infuriating it must be to be dirt poor and live with the knowledge that "Family John Doe, former slave owners," are basking in wealth and privilege that your family (slaves) suffered and died for. Still, there's no simple solution for how reparation would work.

Your question is actually a good one. You have inadvertently brought up a point that many people miss, and that is the fact that within the African Diaspora there are many different opinions and that is perfectly ok. White people don't all share the same principles, opinions or beliefs so why should people of color be expected to be any different? So yes, it's ok if you don't believe in reparation if you view things differently .

the reparations discussion is fun to argue about, but it's pointless to discuss because it will never happen. reparation will not be doled out, wether or not blacks deserve it. i don't know why people get so upset about the issue. the point is seriously moot.

There should be reparations for gays and lesbians. Just think of how many eons we were oppressed by all that religious homophobic crap. I like to bang a good butt, and I'm proud of it!

Please don't attribute my opinion to the fact that I'm a white Southern male, but I agree with the above-stated question almost word-for-word except that I'm White and 43 (almost 44).

I understand where you're coming from but it would be nice. Blacks are so far behind because of slavery, something that happened not too long ago. Now that is just my opinion, so yea.
