Core 2 Duo is faster clock-for-clock than Core Duo, and they use roughly the same amount of power. Get Core 2 Duo. They cost the same, anyway.

The Core 2 Duo is basically just a better design based on the Core Duo.
Besides the transistor count, amount of L2 cache and bus speed supported , there are a whole slew of various other improvements over the original design.
All you really need to know is that the Core 2 is faster, consumes less power and overclocks like a madman.

mainly the core 2 duo has lower clock speeds and FSB frequency and thus lower power..
