i think bad parenting, and alot has to do with the media. im a musician and an artist and i beleive in INTEGRITY. most rap music and pop music today is complete trash, listen to the words! this is where i think alot of kids get their ideas. songs speak directly to the soul and mind, it can be a dangerous thing. kids find themselves through music most of the time i beleive, directly and indirectly.. today fashion and music are nearly inseprable. look how rap has its own style of clothes.. punk... and metal... not all music has a bad message, but for real its hard to ignore that the majority of popular music pushes bad values and bad behaivior on young kids who are impressionable. i think the so called "artists" who make this music should really look inside themselves and ask is this right? however when you make MILLIONS off of it most would rather keep the money and have no integrity. people suck sometimes! teens have always had additudes... however today its out of controll. i think people need to realize whats going on with that part of society. censorship is not the answer though, that is a path to destruction. record companies are by and large responsible for this. they market it and produce it. they want edgy and nasty etc. it sells records..... its greed, and its raping a beautiful art form for personal gain at society's expence. i wish other artists and other musicians would speak out against this like i do!!!!!!!

They learned it from their parents. I accuse myself as much as anyone when I say that, because I, having been born in 1963, am a member of the generation that gave rise to today's kids. Indeed, they inherited some of their attitudes from us.

They do it to fit in to look cool. Smoking, drugs, swearing, all that sort of stuff. Some teens don't though including me.

for the generation of kids growing up in a capitalist world and the increasing commodification of desire, "individualism" is no longer used as a tool to fight for freedom or identity, but rather abused as a excuse for self-gratification.
