Why the hell do people drink alcohol? I seriously don't get it. Growing up I've always believed that drinking is for people who have emotional problems or can't have fun sober.

I live in the Southwest and around here there are a higher number of alcoholics as well as just drinkers. Here are some answers for you. I do not nor will ever drink by the way but I did date an alcoholic.
Oh, and that whole lose the inhibitions well I have never had a drop of alcohol, nor do I normally go out clubbing with people. Either gather the courage and realize you can have fun without alcohol or else remain inhibited.
-They believe it is funnier being drunk.
-They believe it puts them in a more relaxed mood.
-They like how it tastes.
-They think it harms no one.
-They do it to release tension, stress, or get over the day
-They think it will get them laid
-They believe their problems will go away
-They think it doesn't affect them that much
-They think they can handle it
-They think it makes them invincible

Well, first off, just because someone is drinking, it doesn't mean they're drunk. Lots of people just drink one or two drinks, and in fact, a glass of red wine a day is good for you, according to scientists. As for the fascination, it's just like the fascination with eating junk food or smoking cigarettes. It's something people like to do, something that can get out of control if not done in moderation.

Most people can't control themselves, they think that they have to drink because all there friends drink or they are hooked and need the buzz. I don't get it either, I like beer but never drink more than two if I want but for over two years now I haven't had any and I think I have more fun than all my drunk friends. Yea I end up driving them home all the time, that part sucks but friends are friends.

It's ingrained into pretty much everyone's culture. It's a social lubricant and a way to get messed up. And some people just like the taste.
Drinking isn't for retards, hon. Binge drinking is.

Taken in moderation it releases inhibitions and lossens peeps up.
I'm an alcoholic and so I cannot use the stuff. I am allergic to it.
However, I find I can get a high with people on Diet Pepsi.
If you don't need it, don't use it, because it can lead to abuse

I usually don't drink alone, and when I drink it is one beer with friends at a restaurant.
With alcohol you can forget your problems, feel more free.

I enjoy drinking on occasion. I like to drink because it's a relaxing feeling and it's nice sometimes.

it gives people an opportunity to live life with no inhibitions. people then enjoy that feeling and thus continue to consume alcohol to keep that effect going constantly.

All the women that I strip for are usually drunk - it enhances their party. Alcohol disinhibits people.
