Make them volunteer at places such as a homeless shelter, mission, or united way- places that help others. Maybe after seeing how much they do have to be thankful for- such as the ability to go to school- this will change their mind and their heart. If you did this it would definetly have to be for more than a day or week.. I would say about a month.
Then explain the importance of school- and how their Job is to get an education so that they can give back to the community and succeed at all of their dreams.

i suggest making them empty bedpans and give spongebathes to old people in nursing homes. maybe that will give them some incentive to stay in school and actually learn something that will help them get a job that doesnt stink.
