I had a bf in Colorado that just did not work out because it was too far and we only saw each other every 4 months or so.

But now I have a bf and we are going to get married and it's a 2 hour commute. We see each other every 2 weeks and the most that we don't talk other than sleeping is 3 or so hours. Communication is very large w/ us.

I think that it depends on the relationship. Some people are determined to make it work and THAT is what pulls that couple through.

They can be really hard to maintain. I was in one for nearly 2 years. We would talk on the phone and IM each other everyday practically. Phone bill got expensive but IM is free and fun to do. As for the relationship, it DID work...I'm currently married to him. Anyway, long distance relationships can be very hard but in my case, it was VERY worth it. The thing is you have to be serious about it. It can be very trying though. Especially when you see them occassionally...The more you see them, the harder it is to say goodbye until next time. If the person is really special, it's worth it.

Distance makes the heart grow fonder. And I love the free time.

I married mine. I lived in Austria for a year and a half while he was back here in Salt Lake City. It's not for the faint of heart.

They suck. Especially internet ones. Whatever you do... DON'T DO IT!!!!...... Unless you are both truly committed, and you've got no problems (this involves thinking with your head and not your heart,(very difficult if you're lusting over someone)) in giving up your life and moving closer to your loved one, then it may work.. otherwise, heed my warning.... DON'T DO IT!! It could just lead to heartache.. and that's a bad thing :o(

save yourself the torment. I did it and will never do it again, no matter how much I love that person cause I once had a year apart from the one I love and threw away everything to go back to her, and 3 months later she cheated on me

They don't tend to work simply because the person changes without being in front of you, thus becoming a person you thought you knew.
