Download & run this free application.
It will tell you what graphic interface your mainboard has :

CPU-Z is a freeware that gathers information on some of the main devices of your system.

Okay it all depends on the model number. You can usually find a lot of information by just typing the model number into Yahoo! or Google search. Most of the time it is okay to use an AGP8X in an AGP4X motherboard because they are backwards compatible, but an AGP8X card will only run at 4X speed on a motherboard that ONLY supports AGP4X.

You will need to find out what kind of motherboard you have. Then all you have to do is google the model number to get detailed specifications.

The model number or name is usually printed in large letters on the motherboard itself.

Considering you have a P4 I would have to say it is a good chance that it does.

Go to hp site look up your system model and look for specs on it. From your specs I suspect you dont have 8x support.

Yes 4x/8x will work

You need to know the model of your PC or at least the model # of the motherboard.

you can buy a card that will run 4x/8x...
most of the modern 8x cards will automatically run in 4x mode if thats all your mobo can handle.
