Ok, first off, am I stupid to say that the Blair Witch Project actually freaked me out? I mean it didn't "Scare" me, persay, it just was kind of creepy. It's one of those movies that you have to appreciate detail to like. But to my question...I have the book "The Blair Witch Files-The Witch's Daughter" and in the back of the book, it has a contest to win a trip to the set of the BW3 movie......My question is, if the book was written in 2000, what happened to the movie? Anyone know?

I am VERY confused. Any thought would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think you're stupid for being freaked out. I grew up & still live in a very small, rural town. There were alot of urban legends for our area. Stories told over generations scaring kids for years.
So when I watched The Blair Witch Project, it freaked me the hell out, I'll admit it. It hit home. Had trouble sleeping that night. Once I researched it online and found out it was really fake, I watched it again and found things that made me think, of course it's fake look at that. But in a way was disappointed that it was just a movie.
The 2nd one wasn't very good at all. So if there is to be a 3rd, they'd have to pull off something special for it to be good.

October 22, 2003 — Dan Myrick and Ed Sanchez, creators of the "Blair Witch Project", have been wanting to make a prequel for some time now. Moviehole has an update on what is currently happening. Myrick told the site:

"No movement on the Blair Prequel as of yet," he says. "We're prepared to're-pitch' the idea to the 'new owners' of Artisan if and when the time comes. We'd really like to do this film"." The movie will address the legend behind the first film such as the original Blair witch, and the 1940's serial killer of children mentioned in the first film."

I was unaware there was a third Blair Witch movie. To be quite honest, I didnt even know there was a 2nd Blair Witch movie until it came on satellite the other night. However I just found a site that said Blair Witch 3 was released December 2000.

"A sequel, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, was released in the fall of 2000 but was poorly received by most critics.[15] A third installment was announced that same year, but as of yet (2007) has not materialized."

They may have decided not to make the third one or it may have went straight to video and not the theaters
