I have two dial t5 freshwater strip lights on my tank now, i belive to be 65 watts each. i work in a fish store and we just got in this really nice and fancy t5 ho strip with blue actic lights designed for fresh and salt water tanks. It also has i belive 4 t5 regular lights in there. I see in the store it is bright as a mother on fire, which i think will help the light get down further in my tank and through all my plants. But will the HO which i belive to stand for high output be allot better then my normal t5's? or am i wasting my money completly? i have a 75 gallon tank.

75's do have some depth and probably would benefit from the extra "punch". Make sure your planst need it though. If you plants are doing ok now well, dont muck it up! LOL

As you add extra light, you would need to add extra nutrients to keep things in balance, so that's a consideration too.

But also consider this, most planted tanks do well on 4-5 watts per gallon. So that's about 300 watts for your tank.
