so im turning 17 this friday, i don't have the $ to take behind the wheel training. i know that if im 17 and under 18 i can get my permit without having to take the driver education and driver training and having the certificates and that i cant get my license until i'm 18.

heres the question...can i have like a parent just teach me how to drive? after i get the permit of course.

im not sure where you live or if driving regulations are different. but in California, if you are still 17, its required to have your permit and then take driver education for a certain amount of hours. yes, your parents can teach you but maybe you should double check. but if youre 18, all you need to do is learn to drive and take the test. good luck!

You dont say where you live? Some times when parents teach its the blind leading the blind. No ofence to your parents but some times parents cause more harm than good. They can loose there cool, a former student hit a house after being yelled at. teachers have training in personal skills and teaching Wait a bit save some dollars then go to a pro. dont take driving for granted.

You can, but you won't get any insurance discount that may be available for certified drivers ed. The problem is, most parents do not know how to teach someone they have emotional ties to. You will also learn any bad habits a parent has.
