The worst trade that I can think of in recent memory was the one that sent Todd Bertuzzi, Alexander Auld and Bryan Allen to the Panthers for Roberto Luongo, Lukas Krajicek and a draft pick.
Looking at the picture, Luongo is a sure bet for the Hart Trophy while Auld is on the injured list, but you can't blame Allen as he is having a solid year for a defenseman. (2 G, 17 A, 92 PIM, +2 rating) As for the the centerpiece of this trade? He scored only one goal in seven games for the Panthers before being relegated to the injured list because of back problems. For that, he was traded away for a low-round draft pick.
Thank you, Mike Keenan...you have engineered quite possibly the worst trade in the history of sports. You should be lucky that you're kicking it in South Beach instead of a "real" hockey town where they would've lynched you immediately. But more importantly, thank you for giftwrapping the Stanley Cup for my Red Wings. When Bertuzzi comes back and proves how much of a fool you are, I won't pity you one bit...as if Florida hockey fans didn't need another reason why to consider giving it up.

I'm never going to grasp the Naslaund trade. This was back when most of what Patrick did was a good move. Yet this will probably go down as his worst deal. As to the Jagr thing, remember Jagr wanted out of Pittsburgh and they got something out of it. Beech wasn't that bad. Not saying the deal was the best but with Jagr wanting out getting anything decent was a good deal. Although the worst move Patrick probably made, and this wasn't a trade, was picking up Kevin Stevens. Sounded great but wasn't there long before the drug thing kicked in. Talking about the one like 2-3 years ago.

Being a Leafs fan i enjoyed this commerce yet i think of Calgary followers will possibly no longer have enjoyed it plenty! The Leafs obtained Doug Gilmour alongside with Jamie Macoun, Ric Nattress, Kent Manderville, and Rick Wamsley in replace for Gary Leeman, Alexander Godynyuk, Jeff Reese, Michel Petit and Craig Berube. the ten participant deal become the biggest in NHL background, and statistically conversing, between the main lopsided.

I would have to say that the trade that florida made was one of the worst trades ever:
Roberto Luongo (39 W, 2.34 GAA, .920 SV%) Lukas Krajicek(2G, 11A), and a 6th round draft pick for Todd Bertuzzi (1 G, 6 A), Alex Auld (7 W, 3.35 GAA, .888 SV%), and Bryan Allen (2G, 17A)
So basically they traded the second best goaltender in the league (brodeur = 1st) for a shitty goaltender, a goal, and 12 assists.

Neely for Pederson. " Bam-Bam " Cam went on to really help the Bruins while Pederson fell into obscurity. A close second would be the Flyers/Nordiques trade involving Lindros and 15 million dollars for 8 players ( including Peter Forsberg ).

The Islanders trading away Roberto Luongo and Olli Jokinen. And that's tied with the Florida Panthers trading away Roberto Luongo to the Canucks.

By Far Cam Neely from Vancouver to Boston for Barry Pederson. Neely got 72 points that year ( double the year before ) while Pederson petered out. Cam went on to many other great things with Boston ( including 50 goals in 50 games, only Hull, Lemieux, Gretzky, and Richard have done the same ). He also led his team to the playoffs every year he was there. He truly turned out to be one of the games greats, and was given away by Vancouver for a bum.

I would have to say when the Rangers traded Brian Leetch to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Maxim Kondratiev, Jarkko Immonen,
and a first-round pick in the 2004 draft, which became
Lauri Korpikoski, and a second-round pick in 2005, which became Michael Sauer.

Joe Mullen (with Terry Johnson and Rick Wilson) for Eddy Beers, Gino Cavallini and Charlie Bourgeuis.
You can't replace a 40 goal scorer with two 20 goal scorers.
