Yes to the first question and no to the second.

The memory on the graphics card is only used by the graphics card. There is no need to match system memory with video memory.

The only thing you can't do is put DDR2 system memory into a motherboard that uses the original DDR.

In digital engineering, DDR2 SDRAM or double-archives-fee 2 synchronous dynamic random get entry to reminiscence is a random get entry to reminiscence technologies used for top velocity storage of the working archives of a working laptop or laptop or different digital digital gadget. that's a factor of the SDRAM (synchronous dynamic random get entry to reminiscence) kinfolk of technologies, that's between the DRAM (dynamic random get entry to reminiscence) implementations, and is an evolutionary progression over its predecessor, DDR SDRAM. Its generally taking place earnings is the skill to function the exterior archives bus two times as speedy as DDR SDRAM. that's accomplished by making use of more desirable bus signaling, and by making use of working the reminiscence cells at 0.5 the clock fee (one quarter of the information pass fee), rather than on the clock fee as interior the unique DDR. DDR2 reminiscence on an identical clock velocity as DDR will grant an identical bandwidth yet markedly greater latency, offering worse overall performance.

NO it won't work, ddr & ddr2 are different and don't even try to force it to fit, cause won't fit either, not without causing some serious if not total damage to the ram memory.!!!!

Take your time and look for ddr and make sure it is ddr.
