ive got a turbo 400, with 4 bbl carb. I know how to hook it up to the linkage, but down on the tranny does the whole thing have to be apart to put one in?

T-400 use a switch - not a cable. There is a solenoid in the valve body - not a cable like the T-350. The connection is on the driver's side of the transmission. There is only 1 wire to it (It should be live when kicked down to enerize the solenoid).

I recently swapped a T400 for a T350 in a 73 pontiac - get a service manual (Clymer will do) and check out how it is wired. I used a harness from a pontiac with the 400 and a pedal assembly with the switch. Works fine.. They can also be mounted at the carb..

Good luck - also try the aftermarket trans suppliers (B&M, transgo, etc) for a kit.

no it doesn't you have to make sure the carb has the kickdown linkkage if it doesn't you probably get one from dealer,it should have a way of clamping down the cable usually right under the throttle linkage

the 400 doesn't have a cable...it's a switch controlled by a switch on the throttle with a wire running to the side of the trans
