No mainly because they play each other 20 times a year. The Cubs/Cards, Giants/ dodgers ect are equally good rivals. Its just seems a lot bigger than it really is because ESPN thinks its the ALCS everytime they play. They overhype is way too much especially early in the seaon. I cant blame them though, they have had some fantastic games.

No rivalry will surpass yet another. each and each branch seems to have a minimum of a few. AL conventional: Twins-Tigers, Twins-White Sox AL East: purple Sox-Yankees AL West: can no longer think of of any NL conventional: Cubs-enjoying cards NL East: Mets-Phillies NL West: Giants-Dodgers Interleague: Yankees-Mets, Cubs-White Sox To me, there is not greater effective rivalry than White Sox-Twins. Why? i like the White Sox. and then my 2nd renowned.....White Sox-Cubs. residing close to Chicago, i recognize the dislike between the Cubs and White Sox, the Cubs and enjoying cards, and the White Sox and Twins. yet those rivalries do no longer seem to pastime ESPN because of the fact they are interior the Midwest the place there are no longer as many followers because of the fact the East Coast....it rather is all with regard to the money. all of it has to do along with your opinion. yet you're perfect in asserting that the purple Sox-Yankees rivalry is media pushed.

Could care less. Thats one of the gripes I have aganist espn. Youd think the world had stopped when those two match-up. The playoff year the sox won was a pretty entetaining series but other than that i usually turn the channel or go outside and let a dog bite when I hear that junk pop up on the air waves. (Tennessee)

Well me being from Jersey and a huge Yankee fan I am bias. But I think having two Juggernauts battle it out is good baseball, its not like the teams suck they have some of the most talented players in the league...its fun to watch. And on the other hand yeah sure it probably gets over exposed a bit but it still remains a fact the when the Yanks come to town your Stadium fills up.

I'm from Kansas and I could care less about Yankees/Red Sox rivalry. I'm more interested in the Cubs/Cardinals rivalry myself.

Yes!!! I live in California and I think that the Red Sox, Yankee rivalry is easily the most compelling in all of sports.

well, let the rest of the world know that there are other rivalries that are just as exciting to watch each and every time they play...oh wait, there aren't any....so until there is a rivalry that can even come close to this rivalry, you are just going to have to deal with hearing about it
yankees suck!
go red sox!

Unlike those in Detroit who care about Chicago a ton it looks like, us here in Chicago could really care less. Both my Cub and Sox friends don't, and both usually don't watch ESPN since they have an east coast bias.
E = Eastern
S = Seaboard
P = Programing
N = Network

Yeah, the Yanks-Sox rivalry is (at times) rivetting....it is also the most overhyped rivalry in all of professional sports...at least any rivalry that doesn't involve the Dallas Cowboys......
