I was just interested what are the stereotypes of Americans going state by state. Example: what is the stereotypes of people from South Carolina or Kentucky or Connecticut? Can anyone help me?

This is easy. Mississippians are considered totally backwards, racist, and dumb. I would know since I'm from there, and it's not entirely true.

Oh, and New Yorkers are high-strung and demanding. And Californians are divas. I just remembered this because of a couple of my clients at work.

Wisconsin is not only cheeseheads, but we also get backwards, simple minded, or on a nicer note, more down to earth.

We call people from IL - FIBs (F***'in Illinois bas****) because the rich come up from Chicago suburbs (usually, though some Rockford) and buy up property in the north. They are only there for the summer and do not know anything about nature or a quiet community in general.
I had one woman from Chicago demand that we put the tigers at the zoo I work at (in the Northwoods) on a vegitarian diet. That was right after one of her kids ran a fawn into a fence and broke it's leg -which we fed to the tigers after hours :)

*note....none of these are true...these are STEREOTYPES
**always know what the enemy is thinking, even if it is complete bs!

utah - full of child brides and polygamists

new york - angry, rude, loud people who are always in a hurry, tough with a chip on their shoulders

california - hippy dippy vegtarian granola eaters with wacko ideas; blonde bimboes who say "like oh my god" or talk in a valley accent; fake, superficial attitudes

texas: beer drinking gun toting idiots who hate everything "unamerican," like gay people, minorities, and liberalism

any southern state: backward, stupid, racist, ignorant people; trailer trash, in some cases

florida: full of old retirees

any midwestern state: okie doke losers who live out in the sticks, tipping cows and wasting their lives away in the middle of nowhere

west virginia: poor white mountain hicks, separated form society

the other states haven't made an impression, so they really don't have a "stereotypical" representation.

I know of two. People from Texas are stereotyped as gun totting and beer drinking football addicts. People from California are seen as super rich with beach front condos and three BMWs (all hybrids of course!) per family.

im from texas and we are usually considered as like drunk cowboy people full with accent and everything. when we first say that to people they always put on some sort of really crap imitation of what they think is a southern accent and talk to us like that for the rest of the day. people from california are usually perceived as rich blonde airheads with tans (fake or real) that use the words "like" and "dude" a lot.

New Yorkers are rude. I am still in the air on that one. They do ignore you when you ask them a question.
