I have an HP Pavillion zd7000 (3 years old), and it works fine for me. I just have a problem with it's 60GB hard drive (need more storage). I don't want to go external because I like to take all my files with me (I use them frequently, and when I'm away from my desk). I digress. I know that Video cards are impossible to upgrade on laptops, so I was wondering how hard it is to get a bigger Hard Drive?

What you have to do is buy a bigger hard drive, by bigger I mean higher capacity. Then you have to install it and reinstall windows. Either that or use some kind of Ghosting software to copy your current data to the new drive. And that's not always foolproof.

Keep in mind that larger hard drives for laptops are generally much more expensive than your regular hard drives.

I have seen notebook's HDs are huge as 200Gb, found at http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_techspecs_full.php/masterid=28555333, another site to search for deals are http://www.pricewatch.com.

Now, back to your question, you're going to need help to transfer data from that 60Gb to the new one. How are you going to do it? If you're lucky enough to have a friend, who has a custom-made external enclosure for laptop which you can borrow. Another route is, transfer data of 60gb to another computer, replace the new HD, transfer back the data from that computer. Make sure you wipe info in that computer completely.

But then, what are u going to do with your 60gb HD? I would suggest keep it on hand, buy the external enclosure for it, and save it for back up.
