Well, I'm an Army brat, growing up on army bases. We lived on the Presidio in San Francisco in the late 60's, before my dad, may he rest in peace, retired from the Army. We would go all over that Presidio, brothers, sisters, friends, and not have a worry in the world about being kidnapped or worse. On Halloween, we would get those big shopping bags, and go all over the Presidio trick-or-treating and come home with bags filled to the brim with goodies! We also lived in Ft. Hamilton, in Brooklyn, NY and I remember when I was a little girl, us taking the Staten Island Ferry over to New Jersey to go see my grandmother. There's many more, but just growing up on the army bases is my best memories. Oh! and when we lived in Brooklyn, in the winter when it snowed, we would go to the playground and skate on the ice on the ground in our shoes! I remember a big snow storm one winter and a tree fell on our house. I remember me, my brothers and sisters and my mom all huddled under the dining room table, scared to death. I remember eating 10 pancakes for breakfast on Saturdays and watching the Flintstones. I remember home cooked meals made from scratch, everyday, and going on Sunday drives with the family and stopping at Dairy Queen for ice cream cones, and going to the Redwood Forest. Good memories, I must say. Thanks for that question. It made my day!
