Japan conquered most of South East Asia in the early years of the war. They also occupied most of the Pacific islands and a big chunk of China.
A lot of the territory on the mainland was taken from British and French control. The Phillipines was taken from the US.
As the war Progressed, the US captured most of this territory from the Japanese, until they had almost all of the Pacific Islands.
On the Mainland, the Japanese did not lose territory as dramatically, but the British and the Chinese both were able to reclaim some ground.
So, in a nutshell, Japan had most of it at the beginning, with the US controlling the islands at the end.

Prior to WWII the territories of South East asia (traditionally Indochina) were colonies of England and France. At the start of the war with these two tied up in Europe, Japan invaded and took them over for the resources, primarly rubber and some oil. At the end of the war, they were liberated by the US who returned control to the prior colonial powers, a move that set forth the events that lead toward the Vietnam war.

depending on your definition of south east it would be China. The Japanese took over Manchuria which is in the northern part of China. Although the British had soldiers stationed in China, China did control the territory during the war.

I can't say for sure, but I know that Japan controlled the Phillipenes. But then again, China had a lot of control throughout history.
