I find it unbelievable that even though atheists are only about 5% of the population of the USA (And even fewer of them are scientists), they think they have the right to dispute the biblical beliefs of the majority of Americans who identify as Christian.

Not only that, but they want us to PROVE that the biblical account is correct (it's called faith, liberals). However, they are totally unable to prove these wackjob scientific theories they spout out.

Can someone shed some light on why these "scientists" have any credibility when they recite the lie of evolution, the age of the earth, of global warming etc, especially when it is in direct opposition to the bible. The bible never mentions global warming as being a threat to humans, the threat is the Anti-Christ, global warming isn't mentioned in Revelations. It seems that this is just another case of a small percentage of "scientists" forcing their atheistic lifestyles on the vast majority of proud, hardworking Christian Americans.

Okay, lets start over. The job of science is to describe how the world works and to do so independent of the belief system of the people who see it. So physics and biology work for Buddhist observers as well as Christian observers.

Second, scientist don't bother disputing the beliefs they present the results of collecting the facts and if others wish to dispute it, they are free to. Certain Christian groups feel a need to dispute the facts.

Actually about 7-14% of the population is atheist and most scientists are, speaking purely demographically.

The job of science is to describe the world and how it works, regardless of the majority or minority beliefs anywhere.

The burden of proof does fall on Christians though. Any well trained person in their discipline, usually a PhD, has extensive knowledge of how their area of expertise works. If you disagree with it, then you just need to bring forward the overwhelming physical data to back it up. For example, you should show the example of a rabbit fossil in the stomach of a T. Rex. The problem with evolution is that it works well as a description of not only how the world works, but how it changes.

One aspect of evolution is its ability to predict changes and that is what biologists are testing right now. They are taking large samples of dna changes to watch us evolve. There have been scores of observations of new species springing into existence where they did not exist before, plants, animals and bacteria. Some were in highly controlled environments and ruined experiments by the coincidence of a new species forming in the population.

Gallileo was put on trial for proving the bible was wrong. He destroyed between forty and fifty passages but everyone ignores that now. We have been to the moon, the bible is wrong.

Faith is beliving something without proof. Science requires evidence. Science cannot prove things, they can only exclude poor theories. Religion provides certainty without any proof, science provides proof without perfect certainty.

The majority of the world once believed the Earth was flat. They were wrong. Why should majority rule, no matter how deeply an idea is held, decide truth?

People can be proud and hardworking but that doesn't make them right. It just means they work hard. A person without knowledge really shouldn't have a say in any decision about how the world works.

In questions of *science*, the burden falls on anybody who disagrees with 98% of scientists.

It has nothing to do with atheists vs. Christians.

Not all scientists are athiests.

Not all Christians are creationists.

In fact, at least half of the world's Christians ... the 1.1 billion people (out of the 2 billion Christians) belong to a Christian faith (Catholicism) that finds no conflict between evolution and faith in Christ.

The Bible also does not mention that malaria is caused by a bacteria. Would you then deny that malaria is caused by bacteria?

The Bible also does not mention that the earth moves around the sun ... and in fact was long used to "prove" that the idea of the earth moving around the sun was false. This turned out to be wrong. Was the Bible wrong? Or were the people who claimed to "speak" for the Bible wrong? Or do you actually believe that the sun moves around the earth?

I was born Jewish in a scientific house. My parents were both engineers when I was growing up, my dad worked on the space station, and I'm hoping to become a physicist when I get to college. Since I was around so many scientists all of the time, I was never really very religious. I went to Hebrew school for a few years and I respect religion, but I never really believed it. My way of thinking is: believe whatever you want, just don't try to convince me that I'm wrong because of your religious beliefs. If you don't try to make me believe that there is a God, I won't try to make you believe that there isn't one. I don't expect you to "prove" your beliefs, and I thinks it's rather prejudiced that you think all atheists do. Scientists work hard to prove their theories, and to correct them if they are mistaken. You shouldn't be so sure that everything scientists say is "wackjob." I'll admit that scientists have been wrong and will continue to make mistakes, it's only human. However, I would also like to point out that it was the CHURCH that made the mistake of thinking the Earth is the center of the Universe. Finally, I would like to mention that the Pope himself (who I'll admit is Catholic) gets together with scientists to keep himself up to date on the latest discoveries. For someone who is so angry about what scientists are forcing on Christians, you sure do seem to be trying to force a lot on scientists.

The reason that the burden of proof is on you is for several reasons.
First, everyone is born an atheist. You need to be TAUGHT to believe in a God. WHICH God (out of the THOUSANDS that exist throughout the worlds religions) you believe in depends simply on who you're born to, and who is teaching you. If you were born to Christians, then that's what you believe, if you were born to Muslims, then that's what you believe, if you were born to Scientologists, then you'd be believing in an ALIEN that supposedly populated the earth. Now you're trying to tell the people who are atheists (the NATURAL state in which we were all born) that not only IS there a God, but that YOUR God is the right one. YOU are the one who has a theory to sell, so therefore, the burden of proof is on YOU.

Because you can not provide any evidence for anything you claim. Atheism is not belief; it is lack of belief. That is why the burden of proof lies with you. You are supporting a " god hypothesis ", whether you know it, or not. If all you are ranting about is in direst opposition to the bible, as you say, then the bible is in direct opposition to the truth. If any one ends up doing any " forcing ", it will probable be wack jobs like you and the rest of your wack job friends.

PS I hate liberals, too, as they gut evolutionary theory and cling to post- modernism. You both can do to Hades.

Think. There are millions of people in science, in law, in print, and certainly tens of millions that are "liberals". The combined total of all these people "responsible" for the "atheistic doings" is a really significant fraction of the total US adult population, which is roughly 200 million. That fraction is far higher than 5%. Now, that means that vast majority of those people you're complaining about are NOT atheists. So, take up your issues with them.

evolution has been proven, and dosn't require faith. religeon has not been proven, and does require faith. Asking athiests to prove that god dosn't exist is a cowardly move on the part of religeon, because it is impossible to prove the nonexistence of anything. Also, athiests never try and force there beliefs, that is reserved for these cults that call themselfs churches.

You lost me here. I may not be as intellectual as you, but I am very analytical. I agree with you, completely. I had a good friend that once said that it takes more faith not to believe in God than to believe in Him. I will never forget this saying, because it makes so much sense. I think "atheists" are full of s---.
I'm not the best at debating, but I think all of their observations are just that observations. I refuse to believe that we evolved from a lowly ape. We may have similar characteristics yet we do with many other creatures. That's just how God created it. For example, a cat's skeleton is similar to a human's. I don't know much, but it's something I learned in biology class. Dolphins have a similar way of communicating such as humans. There are certain species of animals that are monogamous like humans. (That's not to state that all humans are like this. heeheehee)
There is a vast amount of knowledge out there that we will, probably, never learn. I agree with you, though, we believe through faith not through proof. It's proof enough that God created such a complex, wondrous universe. Like it is often said, just because we can't see the wind, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

ok, its not called "faith" for no reason. thats why you shouldnt let it get to you.. also they are completley allowed to question anything they want, anyone can, its a free society. however not everyone does it in a respectful way...... on either side. evolution is not a lie, its a theory, it could be, it couldnt be, either way no one really knows. whats funny is how scientists want you to prove something, yet a mathmatician, would first try to disprove it. i think scientists want to know and think they know. the burden of disproof should be on the naysayer. also keep in mind some of the greatest scientists who ever lived were christians, davinci ring a bell?(and of other faiths!) dont let it make you lose your cool.... to have faith it must be questioned!

I would have to say it is in part to their fear, and their so called "power" to influence others. Scientist, a very broad genre of people, are looked upon to be the creme de la creme of intellectual people who are supposedly rational beings. Scientists, from viewing their own works, and the efforts of other people, have commonly been described as Atheist, and even a smaller percentage, naturalist. These Scientist, viewing their power of control of intellegence, commonly try to create very biased opinions because people "lower" down the chain see their works and take it as blunt proof. And if anyone was ever to come along and try to question it, they would be either written off as a conservative fundamentalist christian, or a complete idiot.
It seems that many of the world problems are blow way out of prospective. The most common hot topics on the global agenda are Global Warming, and destruction of species. These topics are commonly skewed and reformed to look as though there is clear and apparent danger, but there isn't. According to Naturalist, the earth has been warming and cooling for a few billion years so i'm not so sure why they are fearful of the earth 's average global temperature increasing, it should be totally natural to them. Even for preventing the loss of species, isn't this going against the Naturalist Theory of Evolution; basically stopping the process or trying to prevent it? If one were to follow the Theory of Evolution, one would discover that we should be the "dominant" species, and all others are dying out because of our dominance. This should only be natural to them instead of them going gungho about how we are destroying the planet and it's creatures.
Basically, in America these Naturalist have come to realize their power to influence others. Although Scientist are of great importance to humanity because of their contribution, these Naturalist are ruining the Scientist Reputation. They want everything to be proved or to have proof or support rather than have faith by experience, prejudice in it's essence, Atheist forget to see that many Christians believe in God because they have experienced him; it is something that needs not to be proven at all.
Even greater is their habit of forcing themselves to completely be blind to proofs of Jesus and God. Because they seem to not want to have absolutely nothing to do with Religion, they feel as though they should consider everything and anything that comes out of a Christian's Mouth a completely irrational thought or idea. Without even consideration of the proof that exist, It does not seem possible at all to convice them of Jesus's existance.
