What is the hardest mineral that starts with letter E. A crossword question cant fiqure out.

Jeremy- I thought emerald but workmates all think that's a gem. I does fit though into spaces of crossword.

What's the length of the entry? Any other crossings? I'll guess EMERY (a variety of corundum, the second hardest mineral where diamond is first) which has a Mohs hardness of 9 (hard enough to file nails).

Emerald? It has a hardness of 8. I don't know of any others harder than that starting with an'E'.
