It is ABSOULTELY NOT genetic it is purely a decision that everyone on this planet gets to make about their own sexual prefrences, who they want to hang out with, and ultimately who they want to get married to. Anyone who says being gay is genetic belongs in the ******* 3rd grade. Finally I wanted to talk to you about something you raised near the end of your comment. You said you think being gay is wrong. I am not saying that your opinion is wrong because after all everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I used to feel the exact same way as you did when I was younger. I saw a picture on the newspaper of two guys getting married and I thought how sick! Only women and men should get married! I now realize that during that time I was acting on immaturity and not seeing the world in the correct position. I am now older and when I see two women or men hanging out, kissing, or holding hands I feel so happy for them that they have found someone that they can love and hold on to for the rest of their lives. Someone who will always be there for them through the hardest of times and give out a shoulder to cry on when they need to feel more appreciated. We all need to be happy humans and not sad because life is very short and the best way to do this is to love someone. I hope that I have helped you out and give you valuable information.

First of all you should have searched because the is it a choice thing has been asked about a trillion times.
Keep this in mind, though:
A thief steals things. The person that is stolen from is wronged. Who is wronged when two people of the same sex fall in love and start a relationship? Religion isn't in the genes, but we can't call having a certain religion is wrong (we shouldn't, anyway). The argument for gay rights does not hinge on choice. I don't think I ever chose to be gay, and I would think I know my own feelings better than you do, but the fact remains that even if I DID choose it, it isn't hurting anything, and I have the right to be gay.
Why does it matter to you, anyway? Hope you find the answer you need.

Obviously you have no Idea what you are asking.
The term "genetic" does not mean that it is so much an inherited trait as that our sexual orientation is something that is controlled by our genes. Think of genes as a light switch, some are flipped one direction and some the other. Occasionally something will occur in the developmental stages which will change the direction one(or a few) switches are flipped. That is what is currently being searched for when you hear people talk about looking for the genetic causes of homosexuality.
Homosexuality is nothing like being a thief. Stealing is a conscious choice, being attracted to someone of the same gender is not.

Some gay adults say they can remember realizing they were gay at a very young age ( 5-11 years old). Was this a conscience decision or was this genetics? On your theory that there would be less gays if it was genetic because they don't sleep with the opposite sex, LOTS of gay people sleep with, marry and have children with the opposite sex because they are afraid or ashamed to admit they are gay. Some still feel societies obligation to marry and have children, some just want to have children. I don't think there is enough evidence to prove or disprove the nature vs. nurture theory, but tell me something, was it a conscience decision for you to be heterosexual? Were you genetically predisposed to like girls or were you raised to like girls, but feel it was a coin toss and could have gone either way for you? What if you were raised believing homosexuality was the best way to live your life, would you then be gay?

I don't believe it is genetic because as far as i know I'm the only gay one in my family, but i also don't think it is a choice because i believe i was born gay. I don't believe that being a thief relates to being gay, because a thief is hurting people by invading their space and stealing their stuff which sometimes are valuable. Being gay doesn't hurt anybody if i choose to live my life the way i do why should it bother you, it's not like I'm asking you to enter my life style. All i ask the world is that they respect me is that to much to ask?

There has been no positive scientific proof that g homosexuality is " genetic" as a matter of fact every time they have " found the gay gene" in a gay test group they have found the " gay gene" also in the control group of straight people. This proves the whole "
gay gene" theory to be a crock.

Although not attributed to a single gene, homosexuality has been shown to be the result of a combination of genetic factors.
An October 2004 scientific research publication stated that scientists at the University of Padua have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men. This fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men, and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation. Mothers of gay men produced an average of 2.7 babies compared with 2.3 born to mothers of straight men. And maternal aunts of gay men had 2.0 babies compared with 1.5 born to the maternal aunts of straight men.
Another study published in Human Genetics in February 2006 examined X chromosome inactivation in mothers of gay sons and mothers whose sons were not gay. Normally, X chromosome inactivation occurs at random: half of the cells in a woman's body will have one X chromosome inactivated, while the other half inactivates the other chromosome. Researchers found that in about a quarter of mothers who had at least two gay sons every single cell in these women inactivated the same X chromosome while only 4 percent of mothers with no gay sons showed this type of extreme skewing.
A Canadian university study published in June of 2006 stated that, although researchers have known for years that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers, that the new study found that the so-called "fraternal birth order effect" persists even if gay men were raised away from their biological families.
A January 2007 report suggested to be gay you need to receive one gay gene from both parents, and that those with only one gay gene have a selective advantage because they are heterosexual but have increased style, male sex drive, charm and seductiveness towards women.

I do not think it is genetic. No one has been able to point to any PROOF that it is genetic, OR proof that it is choice.
The question that I am now asking is WHY does it matter ?
UPDATE: Again, some people are saying that it IS something you are born with, and some say it is a CHOICE - But NO ONE has pointed to any proof. The closest we got was someone saying it is genetic, and "you should read up on it" - but they don't give links ! The medical and scientific fields do not know one way or another, so I am wondering why so many people think they know which is right.
But, I still go back to WHAT DOES IT MATTER ?

you don't know anyone gay, do you? do you always base your beliefs on lies, assumptions and generalizing stereotypes? when did you "choose" to be straight? you didn't? really? how can you say we do? I can tell you, it is not a choice. I have never been attracted to men, just to women. I don't hate men, either. I have lots of male friends.
we have always been around as long as there have been human beings. we are born to STRAIGHT parents. being gay is not a result of having a gay parent. it's simply and genetic variance, like your eye, hair or skin color. and, how can you compare being gay to being a thief? ridiculous!
you think being gay is wrong? fine! but being a close-minded, intolerant bigot is even more wrong. hatred and intolerance is what leads to abuse, violence and even war....whether it's because of sexual orientation, race, religion or culture. I think you need to educate yourself, open your mind, and actually get to know people before passing blanket judgment upon them!
