What's the record for the most amount of players in the penalty box at one time for a team?

Just the penality box and not players thrown out of the game.

There are six Utah players in the box during this American league game.

I wonder what the record is for the NHL?

Hmmm. ..can't find it in the rule book, but I've told that there can't be any less than 3 players plus the goalie on the ice so two is the maximum number of players that can be in the sin bin at once.

NHL rules DO state that the penalty box must be big enough for TEN people including the Penalty Timekeeper. (Rule #10.a)

I'm not positive how many guys actually ended up in the box in this game but in a game between Colorado and Detroit on March 26 1997 there was a huge brawl and over 300 penalty minutes in the third period alone. Check out the video below.

I myself have played in games where there were 4 guys in the box at the same time for both teams.

Most I seen in the box was 3. It was the Colorado Avalanche Vs Columbus Blue Jackets in January 2004. Colorado had three players in the penalty box at the same time.

Thursday night, there were 6 Predators and 6 Jets in the box at the same time. 12 men total in the box!

the penalty box isn't big enough for more than 4. after that the players wait on the bench.

Well, you can only take two off the ice, the rest would have to be bench, misconduct, or technical, penalties. So, I quess it depends on how you stack them.

i work the peoria riverman hockey games at the peoria civic center all season , and the most i have seen was two in penalty box at once........
