To completely shrink back down? About 6 weeks.

Technically, it takes around 2 years for your uterus and muscles to get back to the way they were before you got pregnant. Your uterus is back to it's normal size around 6 weeks. But your uterus really has nothing to do with losing weight. You will lose the weight from the baby, uterus, fluids, etc. within the first week or so. The rest of the weight is weight that YOU put on and make take longer to lose.

If you do not breastfeed it may never return to it's prepregnancy size:

"The uterus of the non-breastfeeding mother will never shrink back to its pre-pregnant size. It will always remain slightly enlarged.

"Nursing will help you to regain your figure more quickly, since the process of lactation causes the uterus (which has increased during pregnancy to about 20 times its normal size) to shrink more quickly to its pre-pregnancy size. "

people are right in saying by your six week check-up your uterus should be back to normal size. this has nothing to do with your weight, though. it may take about 6-9 months to get back to your pre-pregnancy weight.

Usually by your 6 week check-up it's back to normal.

a while. your body (hormones etc) will still be all weirded out for a while. take your time. you still need to take your vitamins (prenatals) for a couple of months. your doctor will tell you not to get pregnant again for 6 months to a year. that's because your body, internally, is still recovering for that long and that's normal.
