There's a saying - When in Britain, live like the Brits.
I am not sure if Britain was the one used in the actual saying, but whatever it was, the meaning still stays the same. And trust me, I have switched countries, and this does really work.

Do I detect "homesickness?" At any rate, visit some of the "neighbor markets" and just get a feel for their love of their country and what they do. Visit some museums and explore untrod paths. Every day do something different and when you return home, reflect upon it's meaning and what you gained from the experience. Sit in a quiet place, in your backyard if you have one, and listen to the everyday sounds that goes on, and then block out all the humdrum and concentrate on the birds singing. You are just in a transition period right now, but when you find peace within yourself, then you will know what makes you happy and every day will bring about a new and exciting experience>>> ones that will make you happy. You can try to join groups of others with similar interests to you to make new friends. Check newspapers for things that are on and get involved in community events.
Writing home helps as well, the old fashioned way and not just on the computer. Have famiy send you photo's and updates of what is happening back home often so you don't feel as left out as you may now.
It's not easy moving to a new country, but in time when you make new friends and get a social life it will get easier.

chose a country that has a low GDP. Visit 5 or 6 countries that you are thinking about moving to and talk to the locals. Are you planning on working there? You will need a work visa and probably good idea to start the citizenship process.

Tell yourself OK self I am starting anew in this country and I am going to enjoy it and have FUN. Think positive. Make an effort to meet people and tell them you are new here and ask where are the fun places to go and the fun things to do. Some of them will probably off to take you or go with you to show you. Don't shy away and mope about the past. Jump into the future with both feet.
