You look at 2 things. Don't get confused, because there almost completly opposite situations.
1st- If the only things you here from the girl are criticisms, she probably has a crush. Most girls are really shy about who or who they don't like. And a lot of girls think that if you give the guy absolutly no signal at all, he will have no idea, thus keeping their true feelings hidden.
2nd- If you and this girl are friends, look at the way ya'll talk. In my experience almost everytime the girl ask you to hang out or get together, she has feelings for you. You see, most girls don't want to have to go out of their way to talk to a guy unless he's a little more special than the rest, or just deep in the friend zone.
In telling if a girl likes you, it is always safe to talk to her on the phone. You don't have to strait up ask her "hey, do you like me", but imply that a situation has come up in your life like that, and just see how she reacts. If she finds out that you are talking about ya'lls relationship, then decline and say it is a different girl and you need this girls help.

There is a number of was you can tell if someone likes u, Here is a few:
1. Flirting. Eg, laughing and always talking to you.
2. Staring at you
3. don't talk to u at all. Shy.
Here is just a few, if you have noticed someone doing these to you, they may like you.

Depends on the age of the other person...the older the person, usually when they look you in the eye, their eyes are large and focused accompanied by a smile as they speak.

If they talk to you constantly and if when you are close, they like to just touch your hand or back. laughing at your jokes. You can just tell.

They want to spend time with you, communicate with you whenever they get the chance, comliment you, generally try and get to know you and encourage and be friendly towards you whenever possible.
