i have a nintendo ds lite and wouldnt mind buying one of those cartridges that play multimedia stuff. however i am concerned that the ds is not originally designed for movies and therefore would dramatically drain the battery or cause malfunction in the hardware.

The DS is more then capable of handling movies. Its got a dual processor set up so you won't notice any lag from the processing speeds, just throughput from the cartridge itself. A friend of mine has a MediaMax dock and it works great.

The N5 is a a useless ringer for the R4, that's the very similar spec yet affordably made - in my view i'd steer away from basically becuase of the shortcoming of firmware updates. you may also look at DSTT which has a similar good factors yet can use severe potential sd playing cards, or you would possibly want to attempt different more beneficial upmarket playing cards like the itouch ds, acekard 2.
