If you mean an introduction paragraph then you can make up a story about two people talking about a time they came here and saw our media and how they base it or you can ask a question such as: Why do you think outsiders view our freedom through our media? . Or you could ask some else that question or find a quote by someone famous{but know who said it} that said something about it and start your essay with that!

When you trap a family of ants in a tank and observe their activity, you may be able to understand where they go and what they do, but you will never be able to comprehend exactly what is going on in their minds. If you wanted to understand what it was like to be an ant, you would have to transform into one for a day. The same holds true for the people of America. Foreigners observing Americans through the "tank" of the media will never be able to understand the true thoughts and feelings of America. America can only be understood by those who live and experience American Life first hand.

I don't know where that came from, but it was fun to write. I hope that you can use it :)

You could do a little dialogue between two outsiders or an outsider and an American about what they saud on the TV/Newspaper or Internet.

You might want to interview a few folks and use their comments as an introduction.
