im no pro with these cars, but i did have a college room mate who had the same car and engine. i do recal him telling me it liked to run hot and overheat. i remember the stock radiator was really small, and he replaced it, i want to say with a 3 core. so if you just replaced it with a single core, like it came with, try a bigger one, he also bought a dual electric fans. after that he said he had a hard time getting it to warm up, much less over heat.

Wished I had a 65 comet. My friend had a 2 door Ford Maverick raised in the rear, wide tires rear and small on the front. Looked liked a beast. I see it is a 65 so I doubt you have an electric fan. Have you checked to see that the water is flowing through the engine? You may have an obstruction somewhere in the block or your clutch fan is went fubar on you.

Have you replaced the water pump. Also try burping the block, small block Fords sometimes need this done.

How about the fan.... is it a clutch fan? When the fan kicks on it should roar.... you should hear it.....
