whean u put a game in it it wont read it and it wont spin normal it stops and starts and wont work

Yes, you can. I did it myself, but note it will void the warranty.

If it's an irregular clicking noise and won't boot up, chip it and replace the hard drive. I would be against chips, but they are necessary for changing a broken hard drive for a new one.

If the DVD drive doesn't work, you might be better off not taking it apart and calling Microsoft, or you can take the risk and buy a replacement DVD drive with an Xbox proprietary plug.

Don't plan on using it for games and the DVD drive's broken? Put in your own CD drive in place of it (temporarily) and use a Xbox Linux CD (You can get the disk image off of some Linux site) to put Linux on it

I wouldn't, it voids the warranty, just call up tech support and they'll fix it for free. You wont have it for a couple of weeks but its worth not having to buy another.

What is the Xbox doing wrong that you need to fix it? There are hex screws on the bottom.
