for more details, nothing can be disclosed. I find that this is very unfair & there is no transparency. Those in HR, may I know what are the measurements used to rate an employee & can the result be manipulated, or set up traps in questionaire that can manipulate the result. I was informed that also just fill in all the rubbish that they like to hear but not what you need to say. Is that true?

You may want to work on you writing skills, if you are doing any work where writing is involved. Your paragraph is almost unreadable.

I would be very upset. You deserve to know why your performance was not good. How else can you improve? I would at least write a letter to be put in my file stating that you are unaware of of why you were rated low and that you believe you are perfoming adequately (or above). I would state my case in writing, tell them you want this letter in your file and ask for an answer. At least you will have a rebuttal in your file and keep a copy as proof. Is there anyone you can talk to that has some clout. Most jobs that have these evaluations only serve to make employees feel unappreciated. If you are not perfoming up to standard, then someone should have brought that to your attention way before a substandard evaluation. There is something really wrong with what has happened to you. The next step could be dismissal and all you would know is that you did "something" but you don't know what. It sounds like someone is jerking you around or you have stepped on some toes and they are getting rid of you. I would not have signed anything. You are being taken advantage of no matter what has come down.

I don't know what the employment laws are in your state, but I would certainly want to get it in writing that I asked for the reasons behind my poor review and was denied. Maybe you can ask the person who reviewed you to just state that to you in a memo. This way, if you get fired, you may have a case. I mean how could you improve your performance if they were not willing to tell you in what areas you were lacking? If they don't want to put it in writing, I would definitely say something is fishy here. Get out your employee handbook and see what it says with regard to performance reviews.

They may for some confidentiality reason not be able to tell you exactly who said what when others provided feedback. But, your supervisor should be able to provide information on how to improve your performance. Be proactive and make sure that everyone you work with knows you are looking for ways to correct your (perceived) poor performance.

the job environment can be a political place depending on where you work and who you work for and if they did it fairly they would evaluate you on your work ouput, responsibility, goals achieved, etc...
