I live in Florida. I passed the PE exam but know very little of HVAC? How do I get started in this field? Do I need to get on an internship to get my years of experience? How do I get picked if I don't have experience?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

The job of HVAC is a mechanical engineer design for HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, fire protection and utility distribution. Mechanical systems include central chilled and hot water plants, air handling systems, VAV systems, packaged air conditioning units and DDC control systems, and underground heat and gas distribution systems. Plumbing systems include sanitary sewer systems, domestic water systems, storm water systems and process piping. In addition, the firm is committed to providing energy efficient design and is fully versed in energy efficient systems and rebate programs.

Well, if you sat for the PE exam, you've completed 4 to 6 years of education and passed the engineering training exam. That means you are highly desireable in the HVAC world right now. There is a huge shortage of engineers, both highly experienced and entry-level. IOW, companies are willing to train you when they hire you. Since the pool is so empty, firms are looking for new engineers to mentor into positions of greater responsibility. I work for a design/build mechanical contractor in Seattle and we're looking for entry level HVAC Design Engineers. I imagine the hiring shortage is the same in Florida. Have you spoken with the career center at the university you graduated from? You're welcome to send your resume to my company. Our website is http://www.psfmechanical.com and there's a link at the bottom of the page called "Employment Opportunities". From that link you can email our engineering manager with your resume.
