From Dan S answer it is evident that he doesn't know anything about homoeopathy .Treating measles with very diluted strain of same measls virus is not Homoeopathy ,it is Isopathy .Homoeopathy treats measle with medicine which have the power to produce similar symptoms of measles in human body.Homoeopathy principle is similia similibus curantur means likes cure likes .It is not same cures same(Isopathy)Vaccination is an example for Isopathy. And in case of cancer also this is applicable.Dee is right.

Homeopathy Medicine is pain and simple bad medicine.

The key concept of homeopathy is to treat like with like. So if a patient is infected with a measles virus then the best treatment would be to expose them to very dilute strains of the same measles virus. To me that makes no sense. If they are infected then the addition of more of the same virus isn't going to help anything.

Homeopathy is also popular with cancer treatment. In the case of Chemotherapy the patient is poisoned with hopes that the poison will kill the cancer before it kills the patient. That's why it is so dangerous and why the person's hair falls out, it is a symptom of long term poisoning. Under the care of a competent doctor this procedure has worked countless times; as long as the doctor catches the cancer early enough to treat it. Normally the poison is applied directly to the cancer, or as close as the doctor can get, but the body's blood system will carry it through out the body.

In homeopathy the "doctor" finds a cancer cure that works and then steadily gives the patient a series of diluted and more diluted versions of the same medication. The "doctor's" goal is to finally create a solution without a single molecule of the cancer treatment drug. Somehow the mere ghost of the drug is supposed to help, and I mean ghost because the drug is so diluted that the final solution is pure water, where some of it was once in contact with the cancer treatment drug. It sounds like a real cheap way to do medicine. Find a drug that works and then deprive the patient of it. In cases where the "doctor" is treating a person with something like diabetes. In the case of this disease there are some treatments that don't require every day injections of insulin. If a homeopathic "professional" tried to treat this drug then he would give less and less of the required drug to the patient. Eventually he will be giving that patient a pure solution of water.

One theory is that if you give the body a drug that works then if you decrease the dosage the body will try to replace it. However, if your body can't make the drug because it uses chemicals that you don't have in your body, or if you are trying to stimulate an organ to produce a chemical that is has shown it can't produce in sufficient quantifies then the treatment is a complete waste of time.

The idea of treating like with like comes from alchemy. If you want to turn lead to gold then you rub it with gold or you treat it with materials like silver that are similar to gold. Alchemy took it further and different "recipes" were tried all with no success. However, all of their theories were fundamentally flawed, just like the idea of homeopathy.

According to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homeopathy
Homeopathy (also spelled homœopathy or homoeopathy) from the Greek words όμοιος, hómoios (similar) and πάθος, páthos (suffering), is a method of alternative medicine that attempts to treat "like with like." The term "homeopathy" was coined by the German physician Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann (1755–1843) and first appeared in print in 1807,although he began outlining his beliefs of medical similars in a series of articles and monographs in 1796.
Homeopathy attempts to treat the sick with extremely diluted agents that, in undiluted doses, produce similar symptoms in the healthy. However, processes used cause the dose to be exactly zero in most cases, meaning there is not a single active molecule present in the solution. Its adherents and practitioners assert that the therapeutic potency of a remedy can be increased by serial dilution of the drug, combined with succession, or vigorous shaking. Homeopathy regards diseases as morbid derangements of the organism,[4] and states that instances of disease in different people differ fundamentally. Homeopathy views a sick person as having a dynamic disturbance in a hypothetical "vital force", a disturbance which, homeopaths claim, underlies standard medical diagnoses of named diseases.
