It depends on what state you live in. In Mass they are considered off road use only but most cops wont hassle you as long as your not flooring it while driving by them. The typical decibel output for a cherry bomb is roughly about 78 decibel until the wear out then they alot louder up into the 90 to 100 decibel range.

They can be noisy and thats why they are considered "illegal" but for the most part most cops wont hassle you unless neighbors start to complain or your out goofing around and get caught by the cops they might wright you a ticket for noise violation ive gotten several when i was younger i think they target younger drivers as far as that goes. I have magna-flow mufflers on my 97 grand prix with no converter and the car is extremly loud and i live a block and a half away from the police station and have yet to be bothered by my loud exhaust system. my wife has been told that the car is too loud by an officer. Basically put them on at your own risk.

They are loud, well on a V-8, not too loud on a 4 cylinder.... they are legal and sound pretty good. If you have a V-8 I would try them, if you like loud..... or try a flowmaster 40 series.

They aren't that loud or at least it wasn't that loud on my little truck. The rule of thumb for mufflers is this: If you want loud get a short (length wise) muffler and if you want quiet get a long one.
