I have a really nice $200 pair of boots that accidentally got soaked when I was at the beach by salt water. Well I set them out on my back porch for a day and wore them two days later. I've NEVER smelt such bad shoes in my life!!?? I washed them TWICE with a lot of detergent, but they still stink! PLEASE HELP! I don't want to just mask the smell with powder, there has to be a way to rid the smell. Thanks for your suggestions!

put them in the freezer, and put some baby power in them, THEN set them in the freezer for about 3 days or so....i did this to my shoes, and it worked really well.....GOOD LUCK!! ♥HiD

ps. i know u said u dont want to mask the smell with powder, BUT freezing ur shoes, WILL take out the smell, and the powder will just help it even better. its not going to mask the smell if u put them in the freezer TRUST ME it wont.

You will need a poweder that contains Zinc Oxide. This kills mold, which is often at the root of stinky feet type smells. Might take a weeks worth of application.

Someone suggested Gold Bond powder. They make several varieties, but select the ones containing Zinc Oxide or other Zinc compounds.

Freezing them might kill the microorganisms that create the stink. Put them in a plastic bag and throw them in the freezer for a couple days.

No, that's advantageous - my guy constantly laughs at how "black" the backside of my ft get - because of the fact I, too, hate to placed on shoes at domicile, so i'm everywhere in the domicile, on the deck, outdoors on the sidewalk, etc. barefoot. I purely make certain I wash them before i'm getting into mattress at nighttime.

leave them out in the hot sun for 3 days to burn it off
put goldbond powder in them when you wear them because goldbond talc absorbs odor it doesnt just mask it. The smell will be gone by then.

Well this is what I do. Put baby powder in them and let it set for about a day and they should be fine.
