Should they be worn only for training or can they be worn during competition swimming such as in a triathlon? Can you continue to wear them during the biking and running legs?

Jammers are knee-length spandex swim shorts. Yes you can wear them in competition. I would advise you to DEF wear jammers during a tri but get a tri-specific pair (padding for the bike, designed for multiple sports) if you can. If you're not going to wear them during all three disciplines, what would you be wearing?! There isn't a changing room on the course to change out of your speedo lol... Check out the links below for some good deals on tri shorts!

I'm not sure exactly, but compression material is usually used to reduce muscle fatigue. Because they make it easier for you to swim, they shouldn't be worn during training but during competition mainly. Depending on the fabric it may be very possible for you to wear them during other legs.

compression means they make your muscles get less fatigued, and jammers in swimming are tight shorts that come right above the kneee. they're great for competitions (i hear, lol) and they are quite similar to bike shorts or running spandex, so i would think they'd be fine.

i'm not sure i would use them for training, because you should be trying to work your legs past their limit.
