I'm also an alto 1 singer, although I happen to have a bigger vocal range than you, probably. Don't try to sing something by Christina Anguilera- her voice range is really wide, you won't be able to pull it off. I happen to be listening to Stacie Orrico- I'm not Missing You as I'm typing this. It's really good for someone who's got a R and B/ pop/ soul voice. Avoid Alicia Keys at all cost!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd say to go with what kind of music you like, like rock, rock pop, pop, r and b, rap, soul, alt rock, etc.

More choices:
Irreplacable- Beyonce
Don't Speak- No Doubt (Gwen Stefani)
Aly and AJ- Chemical Reacts
Hilary Duff- Fly
Hilary Duff- I Am
Avril Lavigne- Keep Holding On
Lindsay Lohan- That Girl
Journey to the Past- Anastasia OST (may get a little high...)
Unwritten- Natasha Bedingfield

whats your range? if ur an alto dont try to sing christina songs, she happens to be a soprano (a darn good one too) would be my recommendation however you can try to tranpose her songs to your range, in which case i would say try Reflections ..but you MAY well run out of notes realy quick in this song, let us know what your range is so we can see...

DONT sing fighter, no one i've seen, i repeat no one has pulled off this song live....

if you dont have a gutsy voice try singing songs by Jewel, Joni Mitchell, they're both altos and have beautiful voices...try Foolish Games by Jewel, sounds simple andbeautiful with some gutsy moments

remember, at the end of the day every singer has their own limitations but the difference between a bad and good singer is song choice, sing somethin that shows off what makes you a great singer...
