She lied to me, she said she wouldn't smoke anymore. We had discussed how much trouble I had had with smoking and we had agreed that because we loved each other that neither of us would touch a cigarette again. She recently went to France on a trip, and she called one night and said she had smoked. I was a little shocked because she said it nonchalantly. I asked her why she did it and if she remembered the agreement we had made...she said she had forgotten and that it wasn't the first time on the trip that she had smoked, it was just the first time she had told me. She acted sorry, but I just don't see how she couldve forgotten something like that, and she couldn't come up with a reason she did it. Is it really that big of a deal, I think it is because we made the agreement because we love eachother, and she went back on that. What do you think?

Dishonesty sucks...but so does having a habit that everyone tries to force you to remove from your lifeestyle before you are ready. Patience..perserverence...and love are the true victors in any relationship.

I think that cigarette smoking is a very hard addiction to give up. An agreement to quit smoking it's great, but don't put your relationship on it. Everyone who has ever smoked and tried to quit has fallen back on their attempt more than once. At least she told you she smoked.

Sounds like she promised to quit smoking just so she could "have you" and secretly had no intentions of actually giving it up BUT, I know smokers. It takes a miracle most the time for them to stop.It is hard for them to stop cold turkey but thatsthe best way. When you use gums or pills you just trade one habit for another. You both are going to have to come to a compromise.I do have a friend however, he used to smoke and chew tobacco at the same time until GOD delivered him from it one night. He hasnt touched tobacco since '90.

She lied point blank I mean if she loved you peer pressure would have went right out the door and if she slipped up the first time she should have told you but that really has to do with can you forgive and forget

I think she made a mistake and you need to forgive her and get over it.
