which method of energy transfer is primarily responsible for energy being lost from Earth into space?

I am just a little confused on this one. I am looking for a better definition. Thanks for all the help in advance.

Radiant. Energy from the sun is absorbed by the earth and then radiated (released) back out again. Some of this energy is lost through the atmosphere into space again and some is reflected back (greenhouse effect)
