Sami Salo of the Canucks. He has the hardest shot in the league and is leading the Canucks in plus/minus, with a +17

My favourite defenceman in the NHL is Dion Phaneuf in Calgary. This kid goes out every game and plays like it's his last. He hits hard, shoots just as hard, and gets all the big minutes in Calgary as a shut down defenceman. And the best part is, he's only in his second season in the league! This kid is going to be dominating opposing teams forwards for many years to come.

I've always loved Jay McKee, but lately I like Dmitri Kalinin for doing what needs to be done without being flashy, and Teppo Numminen just because he's awesome.

Nicklas Lidstrom is my favorite. Very smooth and skilled player.
I sure hope he wins his 5th Norris Trophy this year.
My other favorites are Dion Phaneuf and Scott Niedemayer.

Tomas Kaberle is my favorite defenceman.
He's such a smooth skater, he's so calm, it looks like he never gets tired. He beats defenders so easily.In my opinion, he is in the top three in the NHL for defence.
