Technically it can believe it or not reverse if the tubes have not been sealed and tied properly.

If you have the operation on Bupa/private then they burn the ends of the tubes to seal them. The NHS way is that they simply cut & tie. However private also tie them to be sure.

It's not effective straight away as some sperm can still be in the other end of the tube leading out of the penis. You have to hand in a sample a couple of weeks after having it done for testing. The sample is to be handed in within 1hr of producing it so that the results are accurate. The doctor will then inform you of the results and when it is then safe to carry on having sex with your partner without risk of pregnancy.

It is best to wait until advised when to carry on with your sexual activity as it only takes one sperm to do the job.

No it does not work straight away as there will be residual semen in the body. You will have to be tested, probably twice, to ensure that your sperm is infertile. This can take up to six months so you should take precautions in the meantime. As regards safety, this is a pretty foolproof procedure and any side effects are very small. The commonest side effect is psychological, The man feeling is no longer masculine .

There is a small time delay, this is to allow the current sperm to clear. Because of this, the doctor will ask you to produce 2 semen samples a few weeks after the of, to confirm there are no longer any sperm in them.

The operation in good hands is both very safe, minor and reliable. You will also score many brownie points with your partner for taking this initiative.

It's not totally safe for around 6 weeks.. You would normally return to produce a couple of samples for testing. You then get the results sometime after that. I still had to use a condom for quite a few weeks after I had my op. All clear ever since.

It can be very effective although it's best to wait about 8 weeks to ensure no sperm are left. The only risk is sometimes it is possible the tubes can join back together but this is very rare and the risk of pregnancy is very low. Much lower than other forms of contraception.

No...I know for a fact that it's not completely effective right away. I believe it's 3 weeks that you have to wait, but it could be longer. Either way, it is NOT immediate, but afterward it's of course 100% effective. My cousin had his done right after their 2nd child was born. Their third child, a surprise, was born exactly 9 months later...he forgot to listen when the doctor said there was a waiting period!

The doctor will have you produce a sample a few weeks after the op to see if any tadpoles get through!

i would say 100% safe but thats just my experience.

It is the best form of contraception but you have to wait some weeks after so that there is no remaining sperm left.It is not 100% safe but is the nearest thing to it.In very rare cases the tubes rejoin.

It's not effective right away.... you have to wait several weeks and then submit a sample to the lab so that they can verify that you're sterile. To avoid pain follow all directions for post operative care. It's a safe procedure.
